Security Applications, 1913-1953 (385 ft., 3 in.). Form applications by corporations requesting permission from the Michigan Corporation and Securities Commission to sell stocks, bonds, debentures and investment funds in Michigan. Includes name of corporation and address; financial calendar year; date of incorporation; number and names of stockholders; names and addresses of officers; amount of stock they held and their wages. In every case, excerpts from the minutes of the Michigan Corporation and Securities Commission are included. Many applications contain supporting evidence which may include professional appraisals, biographical sketches of officers, annual reports to stockholders, articles of incorporation and by-laws, photographs of plants and products, maps, descriptive brochures, and proposed prospectus of stock sale. This record group represents a careful selection of all applications submitted for approval. In making the selection, two major criteria were used: was the firm incorporated in Michigan; or, was it doing a major portion of its business in Michigan even though it was incorporated in another state. In addition to manufacturing firms, a wide variety of corporations are included. For example, applications are from benevolent and fraternal organizations, churches, insurance, investment firms, banks and realty companies. Arranged by year and numerically thereunder. Includes all Securities applications recorded by the Bureau as of that date. Cards include name of corporation, address, names and addresses of officers, amount of issue and action taken by Commission. Arranged alphabetically by the first name under which corporation filed. (Cross references have been made for name changes). Security Annual Reports, 1953-1956 (8 ft. 6 in.). Form reports by corporations whose securities were accepted for filing in accordance with Sec. 28, Public Act 220, (1923) as amended. Includes name of corporation and address; financial statement of condition on 31st day of December; statement of profit and loss for the calendar year; date of incorporation if incorporated within the year; statement regarding sale of stock; analysis of surplus; kind of business in which corporation was engaged (either dormant or active); number of stockholders; names and addresses of officers, and amount of their stock. Arranged chronologically, 1953-1956, then numerically by file number, 1953-1956. Regulation 19, 1958-1962 (2 ft. 6 in.). Letters in and letters out from investment firms, transcripts of commission hearings, memoranda and notes, accumulated by the Securities Bureau relative to its adoption of Regulation 19 in 1962, regulating front-end loads on installment plans of various securities. Radio talks, 1945-1948 ( 5 in.). Transcripts of radio talks presented by the Securities Bureau on Michigan State College Radio WKAR on a weekly basis. These talks were designed for an uninformed listening audience. Arranged chronologically. Departmental Reorganization, 1941 (5 in.). Manuscript and printed material relating to the reorganization of the Securities Bureau, Insurance Bureau and Banking Department. Arranged alphabetically. North American Security Administrators and State Bar Committee on Corporation and Security Law, 1953-1957 (4 ft., 7 in.). Letters in, letters out, memoranda, mimeographed items, near print items, and speeches accumulated by the Director of the agency relative to proposed security laws both on the state and national level. Also included is material relating to meetings of the North American Security Administrators. Arranged topically and chronologically thereunder. Correspondence, 1963 (2 ft. 11 in.). Letters in and letters out maintained by the Securities Bureau director and deputy director relating to the sale of securities in Michigan. Also includes reports from other states on action taken on security applications. Arranged alphabetically. Minutes, 1913-1960 (62 vols.). Original minutes as approved by the Commissioner of the Securities Bureau, containing action taken on both security and broker-dealer applications. Arranged chronologically, 1913-1966. Indexed by page. Hearings, 1917-1954 (31 vols.). Typescript of hearings held by the Securities Bureau on proposed offerings of selected securities in Michigan. Arranged chronologically, 1917-1954.

And the Industry Division, under the Office of Economic Expansion, was established by Act 116 of the Public Acts of 1963.
